Walter Dean Myers

Died July 1, 2014 

Walter Dean Myers was a writer of children and young adult books. He grew up in New York and was raised by foster parents. Dean quit high school and went to the the army. While in the army he was writing for magazines and such. The big transition in his life was when he won a contest with his book Where Does A Day Go? in 1969. 

    Walter Dean Myers is the New York Times bestselling for more than eighty books.  He receiver the Koretta Scott King award for African American fiction 5 times. Myers wrote books for young adults and would go by jails and different schools to explain them. Walter Dean Myers was a great man and will be honored
